Imperial Stitch

Men's Tuxedos

A tuxedo is made for moments when an ordinary suit isn't quite formal enough. For a wedding, prom, black-tie dinner, reception or evening event, a well-chosen tuxedo creates a sharper, more refined appearance — with details that set it apart from standard suiting.

Imperial Stitch offers men's tuxedos in classic and statement styles, including black, navy, burgundy and brown. Selected products come in Standard Size or Custom Tailored, and every tuxedo is crafted in Pakistan and prepared for direct international delivery. Browse the collection, compare lapel styles and colours, and choose a tuxedo that suits both your event and your style.

The basics

What makes a tuxedo different

A tuxedo and a standard suit can look similar at first glance, but traditional tuxedo styling adds more formal finishing. The most recognisable difference is satin or satin-look fabric on the lapels, buttons and sometimes the trouser side seam — details that give it a cleaner eveningwear appearance.

A regular suit is more versatile for business, weddings and everyday formal dressing. A tuxedo is usually chosen when the dress code is more elevated, or when you want a stronger formal statement. Common characteristics include:

  • Shawl or peak lapels with satin-style finishing
  • Covered or coordinated formal buttons
  • Matching formal trousers
  • A cleaner eveningwear silhouette
  • Styling intended for black-tie and special occasions

Details vary by design, so always review the individual product page to confirm exactly what's included.

Where it works

The right tuxedo for the occasion

Weddings

A strong option for evening weddings, formal receptions and black-tie ceremonies. Black is the most traditional choice, while navy, burgundy, brown and statement colours create a more contemporary groom look. A three-piece tuxedo or a waistcoat design adds another layer of formality; a two-piece keeps things cleaner and lighter.

Prom

One of the best occasions to move beyond conservative business colours. Deep jewel tones, velvet-inspired looks, shawl lapels and bold contrast details all work for an evening where style matters as much as formality. For a traditional look, black or navy is a timeless base; to stand out, choose a richer colour or distinctive lapel while keeping the shirt and accessories simple.

Black-tie & formal events

When an invitation specifies black tie, a tuxedo is generally the most appropriate choice. A black tuxedo with a white dress shirt and black bow tie is the classic formula, while midnight navy also reads elegant. For galas, receptions and award events, keep the styling deliberate so the tuxedo stays the focal point.

Construction

Two-piece vs three-piece tuxedos

Imperial Stitch offers tuxedos in both constructions, depending on the product. Think about the dress code, season, venue and level of formality you want.

Two-piece tuxedo

A jacket and matching trousers — a versatile formalwear choice that feels polished without the extra waistcoat layer. Works especially well for warmer venues, destination events or a cleaner silhouette.

Three-piece tuxedo

A jacket, matching trousers and waistcoat. The extra layer creates a more complete formal appearance and keeps the outfit polished even if the jacket comes off later in the event.

How to order

Standard size or custom tailored

Selected tuxedos come with two ordering options, so you can choose what best matches your fit requirements.

Option one

Standard Size

Select your usual jacket and trouser sizes from the available range. Suitable when standard suit proportions normally fit you well and you're comfortable choosing your regular measurements.

Option two

Custom Tailored

The selected tuxedo is prepared to your submitted measurements; design, colour and fabric remain as shown. It isn't a fully bespoke design service — the styling stays the same as displayed on the product page.

Learn more about both routes on our How It Works page.

The fit

How a tuxedo should fit

Fit matters especially with formalwear, because clean lines and balanced proportions are part of what makes a tuxedo look refined. The jacket should sit smoothly across the shoulders without pulling, collapsing or excess fabric; the chest should close comfortably, and the lapels should lie flat against the body.

Sleeves should let a small amount of shirt cuff show, and the trouser waist should sit securely without excess tightness. The leg should fall cleanly through the thigh and knee, finishing with a neat break over the shoe. For Standard Size, compare your measurements with the Imperial Stitch size guide; if you regularly have proportion issues, Custom Tailored may suit you better.

Colour guide

Choosing a tuxedo colour

Black

The most traditional tuxedo colour — ideal for black-tie events, evening weddings and formal dinners. Easiest to style with a white shirt, black bow tie and black formal shoes.

Navy

A softer alternative to black while staying formal. Works particularly well for weddings and evening events when you want a classic look with slightly more colour.

Burgundy, Brown & Statement

For a stronger occasion look — well suited to prom, receptions and modern weddings. Keep the shirt and accessories restrained so the outfit stays balanced.

Lapels

Lapel styles to consider

Shawl lapel

A smooth, rounded edge strongly associated with eveningwear. It creates a clean, elegant appearance and is a popular choice for weddings, prom and formal dinners.

Peak lapel

Points upward toward the shoulders for a sharper, more structured look. A strong option when you want the tuxedo to feel more assertive and traditional.

The best choice is personal — review the product images carefully and pick the lapel shape that matches the look you want.

Styling

How to style a tuxedo

A tuxedo should look intentional from head to toe. Start with a clean formal shirt, then choose accessories that match the formality of the event. A classic combination:

  • White formal shirt
  • Bow tie or formal neckwear
  • Pocket square
  • Black or dark polished formal shoes
  • Minimal, coordinated accessories

For statement-colour tuxedos, avoid too many competing colours — let the jacket and lapel details carry the visual interest while keeping the rest of the outfit controlled.
